We hope to use the Roundhouse some time in the near future, until then...

BEGINNING THIS SUNDAY,

JUNE 21ST, 2015 Our Church...

Is MOVING Back to our building at 40 Agape Way

2 Miles South of I-80, On Hwy 150

NEW TIMES: Morning Worship 9:00 & 10:45 a.m.

Because of an abrupt, unexplained change in policy, the City of Evanston informed us last weekend that we could not get into the Roundhouse to set up until 10:00 a.m.  This virtually denies the use of the Roundhouse for church services because it takes us 1.5 hours to set up.  In other words, the earliest we could be set up, is actually the time we conclude our morning services.

This has me very puzzled, upset, and intent on discovering the reason the city has done this.  We have communicated with appropriate leaders and administrators who have not given us a justifiable reason for their change in the application of the policies.

Please forward this information and the links below as well as posting this information on your social media, sending the information to as many people as possible to inform everyone of our changes that we have been forced to take this week.

What have we done so far?

1. Talked to leaders / supervisors in charge of the Roundhouse and been told we cannot continue meeting on the same schedule we have had.  Even though they have told us that they will continue to consider this issue, they have made no promises to allow us to continue to meet on Sunday mornings.

2.  Approached the Evanston Urban Renewal Board about the use of the Strand Theater, and have been denied the ability to schedule any meetings there on Sunday morning at this time because they are not prepared for anyone besides "events that they choose to sponsor" .  They were evasive about when they might.

3. Talked to the Uinta County School District who tells us that we cannot meet in any of their facilities on a continuing basis.

4. Recorded 4 commercials that will play for 4 weeks explaining the basic need to move back to our building and to share with people the values we stand for.  This is an expense, I will be underwriting myself, unless someone else steps forward to assist.  Cost $1000.  We must not let the momentum we have gained stop, but continue to get the most important message out about God's unconditional grace and love through Jesus' Christ; his life, death, and resurrection!

5. It looks like we might have to take a stronger stand to explain to our good friends in government and the public eye that "Equal Access Laws", as outlined by landmark cases of the Supreme Court, require equal treatment and access to all groups when using public facilities.  To deny us this is no light matter.  We appreciate those who we have been working with, but to this point have not felt that these rights have been honored.

6.  Please pray for the ongoing process and a speedy resolution of this, so that we may continue a successful experiment to venture into the use of public facilities to connect with more people.  If we have learned anything through this as far as our commission to reach people, it is that people who aren't going to church seem to be very open to visit a public facility.  20-25 new families have have been our guest for Church@ The Roundhouse since we started 11 weeks ago, and we are so glad they did!

7.  And finally, a BIG thanks to everyone of our church family and those near and far who have prayed for us and supported us, to make this possible.  We are not finished with the work!!!

Sincerely Yours, Pastor Robert Douglas
